BEGINNER STRETCHES TO IMPROVE OVERALL FLEXIBILITY

LEVEL: This beginner class is perfect for those new to stretching and want to improve their flexibility.

INSTRUCTOR: Patrick Service

DESCRIPTION: This beginner stretching class focuses on guiding participants through eight to 12 gentle stretches that will target the upper, middle and lower body.  Participants will need to be able to use the floor for performing the stretches for best results.  We will  hold each stretch for about 60 seconds in a circuit like fashion and repeat the same stretches for up to four times.

LEVEL: This beginner class is perfect for those who would prefer to use a chair for performing stretches and leg strengthening exercises.

DESCRIPTION: This beginner stretching class will focus on guiding participants through eight to 12 gentle chair stretches that will target the upper, middle and lower body. We will hold each stretch for about 60 seconds.  Participants will also have the opportunity to perform some seated and standing exercises for strengthening the lower body.

LEVEL: This beginner class is suitable for those who can manage performing stretches on the floor.

DESCRIPTION: Because of our activities of daily living, over time we will experience stiffness that may result from shorten or tight muscles.  If this concern is not addressed, these muscles can cause immobility and/or pain that may require the advanced treatment from a medical professional (e.g.,physical therapist or surgeon).  This class will will begin with a warm up, followed by 60 seconds of gentle stretching for the muscles that are typically shorten (tight).

DESCRIPTION: Although the reasons for lower back pain can vary, a number of muscles, when tight or weak, can contribute to lower back pain.  In this 6-week class we will focus on stretching the muscles that are know to relieve a sore back and strengthen the core region for supporting your progress.  Each class will begin with a warm-up, followed by some core exercises then 6 to 9 stretches that will be held for 60 seconds each and repeated a few times.

DESCRIPTION: Tight lower body muscles can cause sore knees and this beginner class can help to introduce you to some stretches you can incorporate for relieving your sore knees.  In this 6-week class we will focus on stretching the muscles that we know may relieve sore knees and offer recommendations for knee stability exercises for supporting your progress.  Each class will begin with a warm-up followed by 6 - 8 stretches that will be held for 60 seconds each and repeated a few times.
